Doorways

This poem is an experiment with how words conjure mental images.

Doorways

Imagine a door. Of course
you want to know what’s behind it.

Hold the handle, feel
the temperature of its touch,
twist and open.

What’s there?
What’s behind what you see at first?

How many doorways are in your mind?
How many vistas wait
like brightly coloured Easter eggs
hidden in the garden?
