I mean I hear what you’re saying, and it does seem to serve an important purpose, but call me old fashioned, I still can’t help but feel that Satan is bad. Even when only used as a symbol, the associations couldn’t be more negative. Given the widespread use of Satanism in pop culture at the moment, such as the video the Call Me By Your Name, I think a certain level of caution needs to be used when giving sympathy for the devil — though I agree that the separation between state and religion is important.
